Brief Bio
Dr. Rodrigo Bini has a PhD in Sport and Exercise at AUT University in New Zealand. He is currently working as a posdoc research fellow in Brazil (UFRGS) working on the Exercise Research Laboratory. His research has focus on cycling and triathlon biomechanics with focus on the assessment of changes in bicycle configuration and their effects on pedaling biomechanics. Ongoing research intends to test effectiveness of low level laser therapy in cycling performance and to assess passive responses from skeletal muscle after cycling and running tests. Dr. Rodrigo Bini is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Science and Cycling and has served as a reviewer for many journals in Biomechanics, like the Journal of Biomechanics and the Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology.

SCOPE

This special session intends to provide a forum for discussion on new technology applied to triathlon sciences including its three disciplines (i.e. swimming, cycling and running).
Triathlon is a multi-sport involving swimming, cycling and running, which increases the complexity around performance of athletes given these athletes should achieve an optimal balance performance in each discipline. Given swimming, cycling and running are probably among the most popular endurance sports, development technology has large implication for injury prevention strategies and performance enhancement.
For icSports it is key to provide a forum for discussion on potential technology on theses sports and their application to triathlon. Swimming has been benefitting from the development of new suits, while cycling has benefited from new chainrings for performance optimization. In parallel to that, running has benefited from changes in design of shoes. Taken together, these new technology could boost performance of athletes and minimize injury risks.
