More universities are betting in specialized surfing education (ex. The investigation about this sport has grown in different areas but it is dispersed, for what it makes sense an event like this to gather the existing know-how.

The first IcSPORTS congress on Sports and Technology, includes a special session on 'Technology in Surfing' that is the first of a kind: How is technology involved in surfing in a free surf setting, as well as professional performance? And how can surfers, coaches, judges, shapers and engineers use this technology in sports to optimize performance, training, assessment, boards quality and evolution, wetsuits, waves forecast or coastal and waves protection? With this symposium, we hope to bring together researchers from all over the world to discuss the State of The Art of Sports and Technology in Surfing.'
